Alberto Didoni, our founder, incorporated Varcando in 2013. After having spent a decade working for major international organizations such as The World Bank/IFC group in Central and Latin America and for a venture capital fund specialized in microfinance/SME lending in Sub-Saharan Africa, Alberto decided that it was time to leverage his know-how and network of contacts across emerging markets to help investors and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to cross borders, taking advantage of opportunities, know-how and resources available on both sides of the world.
The world is witnessing a rapid and irreversible transformation where emerging and frontier countries play an increasingly important role in the world economy. We see these economies as an enormous reservoir of business opportunities to be reaped by the most astute and forward-thinking players.
Varcando is an advisory firm facilitating the flow of capital and know-how across markets. We provide advisory services to investors, companies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) on cross-border investment projects in a wide range of industries. Our primary focus is emerging and frontier markets: thanks to our local presence and in-depth knowledge of those countries, we strive to connect capital and know-how with small and medium enterprises (SMEs) operating in those countries.
Varcando’s management has been operating and investing in emerging and frontier markets for over a decade. During those years, we have established a network of contacts to facilitate cross-border transactions and a successful implementation of investment projects for our clients in many emerging economies.
